Three million people can die of starvation – fear the WFP. World Food Organization (WFP) chief David Beasley has called for poorer people to stand side by side with the global outbreak of coronavirus.
He said this in an interview to Canadian-based news media The Globe and Mail on Wednesday (April 15).
Failure to form a UN fund is expected to have dire consequences. He also said that if the poor helpless people are not able to put food in the face of this crisis in the world, 3 million people will die of starvation.
Beesley said the WFP put food in the face of at least one hundred million people worldwide with the financial support of the governments of different countries.

তিন কোটি মানুষ অনাহারে মারা যেতে পারে – আশঙ্কা ডব্লিউএফপির
বিশ্বব্যাপী ছড়িয়ে পড়া করোনাভাইরাসের কারণে থমকে যাওয়া বিশ্বব্যবস্থায় গরিব মানুষদের পাশে দাঁড়ানোর আহ্বান জানিয়েছেন বিশ্ব খাদ্য সংস্থার (ডব্লিউএফপি) প্রধান ডেভিড বেসলে।
বুধবার (১৫ এপ্রিল) কানাডাভিত্তিক সংবাদ মাধ্যম গ্লোব অ্যান্ড মেইলকে দেয়া এক সাক্ষাৎকারে তিনি এ কথা বলেন।
জাতিসংঘ তহবিল গঠন না করলে ভয়াবহ পরিণতি হতে পারে বলে আশঙ্কা করা হচ্ছে । তিনি আরও বলেন , বিশ্বব্যাপী এই সংকটময় সময়ে দরিদ্র অসহায় মানুষের মুখে খাবার তুলে দিতে না পারলে অনাহারেই ৩ কোটি মানুষ মারা যাবে ।
বেসলে জানান, বিভিন্ন দেশের সরকারের আর্থিক সহায়তায় বিশ্বে অন্তত একশ মিলিয়ন মানুষের মুখে খাবার তুলে দেয় ডব্লিউএফপি।
তার মধ্যে অন্তত ৩০ মিলিয়ন (৩ কোটি) মানুষ খাবার না পেলে অনাহারে মারা যাওয়ার ঝুঁকিতে আছে। জীবন বাঁচাতে হলে তাদের মুখে খাবার তুলে দেওয়ার ব্যবস্থা করতে হবে।
মহামারী করোনা ভাইরাসের কারণে বিশ্বের অর্থনীতি থমকে গেছে । এই সংকটাপন্ন পরিস্থিতির জন্য করোনা ভাইরাসে আক্রান্ত দেশ গুলো ডব্লিউএফপি’কে অর্থ প্রদান করা বন্ধ করবে । এই কারনে বিশ্বব্যাপী বিপর্যয় পরিস্থিতি আরও বৃদ্ধি পাবে ।
বিশ্বের এই ঝুকিপুর্ণ ভয়াবহ বিপর্যয়ের সময় সকল দেশকে এগিয়ে আসার আহবান জানানো হয়েছে । গরীব ও অসহায় মানুষের পাশে দাঁড়িয়ে দ্রুত তাদের মুখে আহারের ব্যাবস্থা করতে হবে ।
বেসলে বলেন, এই বিপর্যয়ের যথাযথ ব্যবস্থা নিতে না পারলে প্রতিদিন বিশ্বে ৩ লাখ করে মানুষ অনাহারে মৃত্যুবরন করতে থাকবে ।
এদিকে বাংলাদেশ সরকারের রোগতত্ত্ব, রোগ নিয়ন্ত্রণ ও গবেষণা প্রতিষ্ঠানের (আইইডিসিআর) তথ্য বলছে, ৫ দিন ধরে টানা করোনা শনাক্ত বাড়ছে বাংলাদেশে। এ সময়ে পরীক্ষার সংখ্যাও আগের চেয়ে বেড়েছে।

Of those, at least 30 million (3 million) are at risk of starvation without food. In order to save lives, they have to make arrangements to put food in their mouths.
The global economy has stalled due to the epidemic corona virus. Corona virus-affected countries will stop funding WFP for this crisis. Because of this, the global disaster situation will only increase.
All countries have been called upon to come forward during this catastrophic catastrophe in the world. The poor and helpless people will have to stand fast and feed on their faces.
Beasley said if the disaster could not be taken properly, every day about 3 million people would die of starvation.
